A train's operator was killed when two monorail trains carrying tourists collided with each other at a theme park in Walt Disney World in central Florida early Sunday, according to Disney officials.
It was the first fatal crash in the monorail's 38-year history in the park.
The operator died at the scene of the crash, which happened around 2 a.m., said Bo Jones, deputy chief for Reedy Creek Fire Department.
The other train operator was uninjured but was taken to a hospital because he was emotionally shaken.
Details of injuries were not immediately available and the cause of the crash was being investigated.
The theme park runs 12 monorail trains, each with 6 cars traveling the 14.7 miles (some 23.5 km) of elevated rail.
On a typical day, more than 150,000 guests ride the monorail.
