The Ecuadorian government was praised by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly for its unconditional support for the body, the country's Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
Foreign Minister Fander Falconi received a letter with recognition from President of the UN General Assembly Miguel D'Escoto.
In the letter, D'Escoto said Ecuador's President Rafael Correa and Representative to the UN Maria Fernanda Espinosa, among others, have collaborated to improve the living quality of Ecuadorian people and enhance their views about the world.
D'Escoto also stressed Ecuador's role in democratizing the UN system and putting the General Assembly in the global conversation of the financial crisis, but what's even more important, he said, was its contribution to the reform of the international economic and monetary structure.
