Three miners died for inhaling gas inside a coal mine in a rural zone of Valle del Cauca department, southwest of Colombia, the authorities said on Friday.
Environment director of Jamundi municipality Carlos Rosero told Xinhua that the event occurred on Thursday but until Friday they rescued the corpses.
"This occurred on Thursday noon. I know there are three people who died inside the mine in Cascarillal lane, a house near Jamundi municipality," Rosero said.
According to Rosero, the miners died "for inhaling gas" but not for a landslide inside the mine.
In June, 73 miners died inside a coal mine in Antioquia department, due to an explosion.
According to the Colombian Mining and Energy Ministry, the country produced each year 70 million cubic tones of coal, from them some 66 million cubic tones are exported to Europe and the United States.
