Bolivian Vice President Alvaro Garcia Friday accepted a political challenge from Bolivian Workers Central (COB) which calls for a nation-wide non-confidence vote against him over his recent political comments over the national flag.
"If a group of conservative leaders want to request the revocation of the vice president because I defended the Bolivian flag in front of the the aggressive acts of some of the leaders, I do not have any problem with the referendum," Garcia told a press conference.
The COB recently decided to call for the revocative referendum against Garcia for what they say is the vice president's lack of respect for their organization. No date for such a referendum has been set yet.
The decision followed an incident two weeks ago, when Garcia accused COB leaders for mistreating the national flag during demonstrations against a 15-percent wage increase promoted by the government.
