Almost a third of the Dutch working population in 2006 have completed higher education, up from 25 percent 10 years ago, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) said on Monday.
People with a higher education are mostly employed in non-commercial sectors, including education and health care, the Dutch national statistical agency found.
The business sector employs two-thirds of the Netherlands' total working population - people between the ages of 15 and 64 who work at least 12 hours a week, but less than half of the country's college graduates work in the business sector.
The industry sector employs 22 percent of the country's working population, but only 12 percent of the highly-educated people.
By contrast, almost 80 percent of education workers have followed tertiary education, and so have 40 percent of workers in the health care and welfare sector. Source: Xinhua
