German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has expressed his condolences over Ukraine coalmine disaster, German Foreign Ministry press office said Tuesday.
"I was horrified to learn of the tragic mine accident which occurred in Donezk," Steinmeier said in a letter of condolences to his Ukrainian counterpart Arseni P. Yasenyuk, on the deaths of the miners.
"Allow me to express to you, your government and the Ukrainian people my most profound condolences. At this difficult time our thoughts and sympathy are with all those who have lost family members and friends," the minister said.
Earlier on Sunday, an explosion occurred some 1,000 meters underground at the Zasyadko coalmine of Ukraine, leaving 88 deaths and 12 others still missing.
