A German court on Wednesday sentenced three men to imprisonment for aiding al-Qaeda by insurance fraud, a court statement said.
The higher regional court in Dusseldorf, west Germany, sentenced Ibrahim Mohamed K., Yasser Abu S., and Ismail Abu S. toseven years, six years and three and half years in prison respectively.
The court said in a statement that the group had tried to raise money for al-Qaeda by false claims on life insurance.
The three planned to falsely claim a Palestinian died in a car crash in Egypt and transfer the money to the terrorist organization, said the court.
