Russia is concerned about NATO's expansion policy, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on Wednesday.
"We should honestly and openly state our concerns about the continued 'policy of open doors'," Grushko told a news conference in Moscow.
This policy "was inherited from the times of the Cold War and today it is not able to solve real security problems, but instead can lead to antagonism between particular states," Grushko said.
"In some countries that aspire to enter NATO, this policy is used as a veil for actions that are not in line with the common European security goals," the diplomat said.
"This also concerns the fact that regretfully our partners have retreated in recent years from agreements that were reached together with Russia in the area of strengthening military security in Europe through arms control means," Grushko said.
