Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will hold talks with visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Sunday morning on Mideast issues and bilateral relations.
The two presidents are expected to discuss a Mediterranean union initiative proposed by Sarkozy in a bid to strengthen cooperation among countries of the Mediterranean rim.
The latest developments of the Mideast peace process following the Annapolis peace conference held late November in the United States would be highlighted on the agenda of their talks.
The two leaders will discuss measures that could be taken by the two countries to push forward the Mideast peace process as well as the situation in Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Darfur and the Iranian nuclear file, according to an earlier report.
The two countries are also seeking to boost bilateral trade and France's investment in Egypt.
In an interview with Egyptian daily Al-Ahram published on Saturday, Sarkozy said France is one of the leading investors in Egypt, and it is willing to cooperate with Egypt in the field of peaceful nuclear technology to meet Egypt's increasing needs of energy.
Ahead of the two-day first official visit to Egypt since assuming the presidency in May, Sarkozy arrived in the southern ancient Egyptian city of Luxor on Tuesday to spend the Christmas holidays.
