Russia does not accept Washington's justification for deploying missile defense elements in Central Europe, a deputy foreign minister told a Moscow conference on national security Saturday.
"The Americans are still trying to persuade us of the need for this. We do not take their arguments seriously," Sergei Kislyak was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying.
The United States is planning to deploy 10 missile interceptors in Poland and a radar system in the Czech Republic as part of its European missile shield. Russia has objected with concerns over its national security.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will discuss the issue with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski during the latter's visit to Russia next Monday. Source:Xinhua
