Polish President Lech Kaczynski on Wednesday met visiting EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, local media reported.
Solana, on a one-day visit in Warsaw, also met Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski later in the day. They discussed current questions of the common foreign and security policy, including Kosovo issues, Iran, Afghanistan, Middle East Peace Process and the EU Lisbon Treaty.
Solana flew to Pristina Tuesday to meet the Kosovo's top political leaders, as the first EU official to do so following Kosovo's proclaimed independence.
An EU mission to supervise police and judicial services in Kosovo will be launched within the next four months. Poland has already deployed 138 policemen to the region as part of the UN peacekeeping force.
The European Union remains divided over the sovereignty of Kosovo, with the majority of the EU states backing it. The Polish prime minister is to present the government's favorable stand to the president, requesting his official approval.
