Finland will send 50 more peacekeepers to Kosovo before this summer, increasing the number of Finnish soldiers there from 400 to 450, Finnish News Agency reported on Friday.
Sending more peacekeepers to Kosovo doesn't matter with its independent declaration, the agency quoted Finnish Defense Minister Jyri Hakamies as saying.
The reason was that Kosovo would hand over a regional command to Finland in the summer, said the minister.
Finland decided on Monday to send dozens of Finnish experts to Kosovo to assist with the European Union (EU) mission there, and also prepared to give 15 million euros in support of Kosovo's economic development in the next few years.
So far, Finland has about 400 peacekeepers in Kosovo, as well as dozens of civilian observers.
