Kosovo, the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty and other EU affairs were among the issues discussed here Monday by the visiting Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn and his polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski.

"Luxembourg has already recognized Kosovo's independence and Poland intends to do the same on Tuesday," Polish news agency PAP quoted Sikorski as telling newsmen after the talks.

Poland wants the process started by Kosovo's declaration of independence to end in the integration of both Kosovo and Serbia with euroatlantic structures, Sikorski went on.

Asselborn said that the decision to recognize Kosovo created "acceptable living conditions" for its inhabitants but did not amount to forgetting about the interests of Serbia and "deserting the Serbs."

Asselborn also met Polish Senate speaker Bogdan Borusewicz who told newsmen later that political relations between Poland and Luxembourg were very good. The talks focused on the EU, the situation in the Balkans, common energy policy and alternative energy sources.
