A moderate earthquake jolted Britain early on Wednesday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, the BBC reported
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said on its website that the tremors measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck at 0056GMT and centered 205 kilometers north of London.
Reports from the BBC and Sky News television said the tremors were felt at around 0100 GMT and lasted for between 10 and 15 seconds.
