Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has congratulated Russian president-elect Dmitry Medvedev on his victory in Sunday's presidential election, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
Nazarbayev has also invited Medvedev to visit Kazakhstan.
Both sides have expressed their intention to "continue full-fledged development of multifaceted Russian-Kazakh relations," Itar-Tass news agency quoted a Kremlin official as saying.
Nazarbayev also praised incumbent President Vladimir Putin's contribution to the development of Russian-Kazakh relations and the integration processes among members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Medvedev, first deputy prime minister in Putin's cabinet, won by a landslide in the country's fifth presidential election.
