Bulgaria is considering ways of cooperation with neighboring Romania in the police patrol of its sea resorts, local press reported on Sunday.
The consideration emerged on Sunday during the meeting of Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumen Petkov and his Romanian counterpart Cristian David in Romania's famous resort of Mamaia.
Bulgarian Black Sea resorts have been gaining tremendous popularity among Romanian tourists in recent years.
Romanian tourists have already booked many of the spots in the resorts along Bulgaria's northern Black Sea Coast around the city of Varna for the Orthodox Easter holiday on April 27-28.
"We are ready to welcome Romanian policemen to patrol the streets of Bulgaria's resorts together with their local colleagues," Petkov said.
According to him, the joint activities, which will deal with the affairs concerning of Romanians in these resorts, are likely to be conducted as soon as this summer in case an agreement on cooperation is signed.
The measures that Bulgaria and Romania should undertake in order to join the Schengen Agreement and the upcoming check of their preparedness in April were also on the agenda of the meeting. The two ministers agreed to draw up a joint action plan by the end of June.
