An engineer unit of Poland will leave for Chad in late April or early May to prepare a base for Polish soldiers there, Polish news agency PAP reported on Sunday.
The unit would be strongly supported by the French side, Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich was quoted by PAP as saying on Saturday.
French Defense Minister Herve Morin is to confirm the project in the coming days, Klich said.
Klich was attending a discussion in Cracow on "New architecture of security in Europe. The role and position of Poland."
