Twenty seven Polish policemen were wounded by shrapnels during riots in the Kosovo town of Mitrovica on Monday but their lives are not in danger, Polish news agency PAP reported.
According to police headquarters, 16 wounded soldiers were taken to a field hospital and 11 were treated in the base.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior and Administration Minister Grzegorz Schetyna said he was expecting a UN consent for leaving for Kosovo.
"We will probably use a CASA plane to take some of the wounded policemen back home," PAP quoted Schetyna as saying.
On Monday UN police stormed a UN courthouse in Mitrovica, evicting Serb demonstrators who occupied the building since last week to protest Kosovo's declaration of independence.
Fifty two Polish policemen, part of a UN police force in Kosovo, came under attack outside a court building in Mitrovica, according to PAP.
