More than 100 Serbs staged demonstrations here Monday in protest against NATO's bombing of former Yugoslavia nine years ago.

The protesters braved cold weather in the center of Vienna, holding flags of former Yugoslavia and banners with pictures depicting U.S.-manipulated dismemberment of the country.

The "cruel" bombing of Yugoslavia by the U.S.-led NATO will never be wiped off from history, said Lazar Bilanovic, president of the Austrian-Serbian Solidarity Movement, which organized the protest.

He also strongly criticized the West's Kosovo independence plot, a step which further dismembered former Yugoslavia.

The U.S.-led NATO, accusing former Yugoslavia of "violating human rights," started bombing the country on March 24, 1999. The 11-week bombardment left some 3,000 civilians and soldiers dead and caused huge material losses.
