An online survey result published on Wednesday by the Austrian Association Neustart, showed that the school violence in Austria was quite severe.

A total of 5,454 teachers, 4,509 parents and 864 students in Austria participated in the survey.

According to the survey, 32 percent teachers and 27 percent students confronted with school violence at least once every week.

Poverty, overloaded pressure due to high expectations, combined with the fear of excessive high standards were the main reasons for aggressive behaviors of the students. Drug abuse also played an important role on this issue, experts added. The abuse of alcohol or synthetic drugs stimulated the potential aggression for fights.

Therefore, Austrian Education Minister Claudia Schmied had promoted a program "white feather" on March 11, saying that prevention against school violence should be strengthened, some necessary interventions should be allowed.
