Russian President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart George W. Bush will hold an informal meeting in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi on April 6 to discuss security in Europe, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrovsaid Thursday.

All key issues concerning European security will also be considered within the framework of the NATO summit in Bucharest, Romania on April 2-4 and at the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council in Brussels Friday.

"Russia, the United States and the Russia-NATO Council member-countries are particularly responsible for security in the Euro-Atlantic region," Lavrov told the Itar-Tass news agency.

"This applies to the problem of anti-missile defense, the CFE (Conventional Forces in Europe) treaty, intermediate and shorter range missiles and space militarization. All these issues are in the phase of active discussion and the strategic stability and security of all regions and countries of the world depends on how they will be resolved," he said.
