Britain and France will deepen coordination on major policies before international meetings, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said here Thursday.

"We will hold regular bilateral summits and will vote together for reform of international institutions," Brown said at a joint press conference with visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy following their talks.

"We have agreed to strengthen the partnership between our countries, Brown said, adding the two countries will have quarterly meetings of senior officials.

"We share the same vision about the future of Europe. Together Britain and France will face the challenges of the future," Brown said.

Thanking Brown for his "exemplary cooperation", President Sarkozy said "partnership between France and Britain will be at the heart of our future."

"I am determined that Britain will be closely involved with EU," Sarkozy said.

The two leaders also pledged to work to bring rich and poor countries together.
