U.S. KC-135R Stratotankers temporarily based at Budapest's Ferihegy International Airport will provide air refueling support to combat air patrols over NATO's Bucharest summit location, the U.S. Embassy in Budapest said in a press release on Thursday.
The United States and Hungary are working jointly to provide military aircraft and infrastructure for the air policing mission Operation Noble Endeavor. Hungary will provide air traffic control and airspace management expertise to support the air policing mission, the release said.
The summit is scheduled for April 2-4 and will be attended by leaders from NATO member countries.
The support mission will operate from March 31 to April 6.
U.S.-Hungarian cooperation under the NATO framework to augment collective security for the upcoming summit demonstrates the continued strengthening of the NATO alliance, the release added. Source:Xinhua
