The commander in chief of Poland's special forces General Wlodzimierz Potasinski and his U.S. counterpart Admiral Eric Olson met here Tuesday for talks on further tightening of cooperation, including training.
The special forces have been recently upgraded to be the fourth branch of the armed forces in Poland, next to the navy, the air force and the ground forces, according to Polish news agency PAP.
The command structure of the special forces is still being developed and will oversee GROM, the first special regiment from Lubliniec and the Formoza naval unit.
Both General Potasinski and Admiral Olson spoke about the existing cooperation at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. "I hope for our partnership to develop further," PAP quoted Olson as saying.
Minister of Defense Bogdan Klich said recently that the special forces were Poland's "exports merchandise." "We make efforts to ensure that these forces have a high rating with our most important allies, particularly the U.S.," he declared.
