Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived on Thursday evening in Bucharest, to take part in the NATO-Russia Council on Friday.
It is the first time for Putin to participate in a Russia-NATO Council after the establishment of this body and he is the first Russian president to Romania after 1990.
The Russian president plans to present the alliance partners gathered in Bucharest, Moscow's viewpoint on the future cooperation in the Russia-NATO Council and also on the threats facing today's world, a Kremlin source said.
The source refused to make a comparison with the harsh speech delivered by Putin at the conference on security in Munich on February 2007, adding that in Bucharest, the tone of the speech will be "moderate."
After his speech at the summit in Romania's capital Bucharest, Putin will go to Sochi, a Russian resort at the Black Sea, where he will receive his American counterpart George W. Bush, with whom he will discuss sensitive issues like the anti-missile shield which Washington wants to set up in Europe.
