Ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, eastern dimension of the EU neighborhood policy and energy issues were discussed Monday by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorskiand his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

"The talks with the German minister were friendly and fruitful. We reached agreement concerning several issues and exchanged information about the course of the Lisbon Treaty ratification in the two countries," Polish news agency PAP quoted Sikorski as saying.

Sikorski added he and Steinmeier, now in Poland on a two-day working visit, decided to hold consultations on the EU new budget this year. Matters discussed were also energy issues, including alternative sources of energy.

The Polish minister stressed that together with Minister Steinmeier they have agreed that both countries should be keen to make it easier for Russia, especially for the Kaliningrad Oblast, to intensify its contacts with Europe.
