German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will travel to the United States later this week to hold talks with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the Foreign Ministry announced here on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the two, who will meet on Friday, are expected to discuss a wide range of topics like the Middle East conflict, Iran's nuclear program and the situation in the Balkans.

On Friday afternoon, Steinmeier will open the Berlin Gallery in the "Newseum," also being officially opened that day.

On Saturday, Steinmeier will go on to Harvard University, where he will give a speech on transatlantic relations.

To round off his trip, the minister will watch a baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
