German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay one-day visit to Norway this weekend, according to reports reaching here from Oslo on Tuesday.

Chancellor will hold political talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. A central issue will be Norwegian-German cooperation in the fields of climate and energy policy, the Norwegian government said in a statement.

Angela Merkel will also have an important cultural arrangement on the agenda of her visit on 12 April. She will visit the museum of Edvard Munch in Oslo.

Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was a Norwegian Symbolist painter, printmaker, and an important forerunner of expressionistic art. His intense, evocative treatment of psychological and emotional themes was a major influence on the development of German Expressionism in the early 20th century. His painting The Cry (1893) is regarded as an icon of existential anguish.

Chancellor Merkel will return to Berlin late in the evening, according to the report.
