Georgian Foreign Minister David Bakradze said on Friday he doubted that Russia's a set of measures towards normalizing relations with his country are sincere.
Russia is willing to normalize relations with Georgia and expects it to treat Russia's actions adequately, the Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier in the day, in connection with Russian President Vladimir Putin's order to start talks with Georgia on resuming imports from the country.
In reply to the statement, Bakradzein said he doubts Russia's sincerity in efforts to improve relations. However, he is confident that "Georgia's American and European friends will not be put off" by Russia's actions.
Russia's ties with Georgia became strained following Putin's instruction to his government on Wednesday to provide more substantive aid for the population in Georgia's breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
