Bulgaria's parliament accepted Thursday the cabinet reshuffle proposed by the three-way ruling coalition Tuesday, local press reported.
The reforms that provide for appointing new heads of four ministries and a Deputy Prime Minister without portfolio were adopted by a large margin - 155 to 74 votes, and the parliament presented another vote with 154 to 72 for the structural changes.
Shortly after the voting the newly chosen officials were formally sworn in for the rest of the government's term.
Bulgaria's ambassador to Germany Meglena Plugchieva became Deputy PM without portfolio, who is to take responsibility for monitoring and coordination of EU funding.
The former chair of the socialists' parliamentary group Mihail Mikov was appointed Interior Minister after Rumen Petkov handed in his resignation in the wake of recent scandals that have shaken the institution.
Agriculture Minister Nihat Kabil was replaced by Valeri Tsvetanov, a professor at the Agroecology Institute "Pushkarov".
The post of the Defense Minister Vesselin Bliznakov was taken by Nikolay Tsonev, the Executive Director of Executive Agency "Social Activities" at the Ministry.
The former Mayor of the town of Stara Zagora Evgeniy Zhelev replaced current Bulgaria Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski.
Moreover, the Agriculture and Food Supply Ministry was renamed Agriculture and Food Ministry, and the Ministry of Disaster Management Policy was renamed Ministry of Emergency Situations.
