Russia's president-elect Dmitry Medvedev received his credentials from the country's election watchdog on the eve of his inauguration, the Kremlin said Tuesday.
Vladimir Churov, the chairman of the Central Election Commission, handed Medvedev the documents during a work meeting in Moscow, Interfax news agency reported.
Medvedev, who was first deputy prime minister in outgoing President Vladimir Putin's cabinet, swept to power in the March 2 elections on the back of Putin's endorsement. He has pledged to continue Putin's policies after taking office on May 7.
Meanwhile, Putin is expected to take on the role of prime minister after stepping down from the presidency.
