Ground personnel at the Schiphol airport in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam plan to strike on Friday, which could cause serious problems as tens of thousands of holidaymakers are heading home this weekend, Dutch media reported Thursday.
The strike is to be held by Menzies Aviation, which handles aircraft, passengers, luggage and freight for many of the airlines at the airport.
Trade unions called for the strike in support of their wage demands. The unions are demanding a 3.5 percent increase in wages but the company is offering only 1.5 percent.
The spring school holiday in the Netherlands comes to an end this weekend and the Amsterdam airport is bracing for one of its busiest peaks this year.
