A new opinion poll published on Friday puts Britain's Conservative Party 26 percent ahead of the ruling Labour.
The rating for Gordon Brown's Labour Party is reportedly down to the lowest since records began in the 1930s, the Daily Telegraph reported.
A YouGov poll puts the Conservatives at 49 percent with Labour trailing at 23 percent and the Liberal Democratic Party at 17 percent.
The Conservatives last got a bigger lead in 1968, said the report.
The poll results have added to Labour's poor performance during the local elections last week when it received only 24 percent of the vote, ranking a poor third behind the Tories and the Liberal Democrats.
Internal divisions have been surfaced within the Labour Party over Gordon Brown's decision to scrap the 10-pence (about 20 U.S. cents) income tax rate.
