Funds raised by the Czech organizations to aid Myanmar hit by cyclone Nargis since May 3 have reached about 4 million crowns (250,000 U.S. dollars), the Czech news agency CTK said on Tuesday.
The organization People in Need has collected over 3 million crowns (200,000 dollars), Czech charity group ADRA over half a million (30,000 dollars) and the Charity some 350,000 crowns (20,000 dollars), the CTK said.
Czech ADRA head Jan Barta said he believed Czechs would continue sending financial contributions to Myanmar.
People in Need has delivered food to the southern part of the country. The organization plans to deliver water cleaning tablets from Pakistan because unburied corpses and dead cattle threaten to poison local water sources.
The ADRA Charity's international network has distributed food in Myanmar too. ADRA has also sent two doctors to the region.
The Czech Foreign Ministry earmarked 5 million crowns (300,000 dollars) for Myanmar last week.
According to Myanmar state radio on Tuesday evening, the death toll from Cyclone Nargis has risen to 34,273.
