Russia's electricity monopoly Mosenergosbyt has sold its controlling stake to a little-known company for some 478 million U.S. dollars, local media reported.

The 50.9 percent stake was sold at the starting price to Korporativno-trustoviye proyekty in an auction Wednesday, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

Mosenergosbyt, Russia's largest electricity trading company, sells some eight percent of the country's total electric power output. It supplies electricity and collects payments in the capital and surrounding regions.
