The death toll from the flood in the southwestern German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg has risen to three, local police said late Tuesday.
Recent heavy rains turned a usually quiet stream running through the Killertal - which means "Killer valley" in German – in Baden-Wuerttemberg to a raging torrent Monday evening, police spokesman Lambert Maute said.
Two women were found dead in their cars while another in her house's cellar, said the spokesman, adding that 11 people were injured in the flood.
A train driver was seriously wounded when the carriages crashed into a tree fallen on the railway.
Rescuers have been working overnight to reach the people trapped by the flood.
The heavy rain also shut down power supplies in some towns and delayed several flights from the nearby Stuttgart airport. Source:Xinhua
