The Finnish Embassy in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi closed on Monday due to a bomb thread, Finnish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

A building, which houses the Finnish embassy, was evacuated to allow police to search for a bomb, the statement said.

The threat had been issued by telephone to a person in charge of running the building, and the threat was not specific to the Finnish Embassy, said the statement.

The embassy shares the building with the Swedish consulate, a United Nations food and agriculture office, and a few companies.
