Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will visit Russia in late July, visiting Venezuelan Vice President Ramon Carrizalez said here Thursday.

"The exact date of our president's visit to Russia is not yet known, but the visit will take place in late July," the Itar-Tass news agency quoted Carrizalez as saying.

Russia intends to sign an agreement with Venezuela on mutual protection of investments during Chavez's visit to Moscow, Alexander Zhukov, Russian Deputy Prime Minister said after discussing with Carrizalez the prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the two states.

"We only have one disputed point (in determining the legal and contractual basis of relations), but during President Hugo Chavez's visit, we'll be able to settle the issue," Zhukov said.
