The French presidency of the European Union condemned on Wednesday the "terrorist" attack in Jerusalem as "heinous."

It conveyed "its condolences to the families of the victims and their loved ones and expresses its sympathy and deepest solidarity to the people and government of Israel."

"This unacceptable terrorist act does harm to all Israelis and all Palestinians," the French presidency said in a statement.

It urged Israeli and Palestinian leaders to pursue their discussions, despite the violence, in order to swiftly take forward the ongoing negotiation process.

"Only this will pave the way to peace," it added.

On the same day, a Palestinian crushed with his bulldozer several cars and buses, killing three people before being shot by Israeli police.
