Two people died and another was severe injured in a crash of a private helicopter near Banska Bystrica, Central Slovakia, the Czech news agency CTK said on Thursday.
The Mi-8 helicopter of the Tech-Mont Helicopter company from the airport in Spisska Nova Ves, east Slovakia, transported timber from inaccessible regions for the state-owned Slovak Lesy forestry company, CTK said.
Although the cause of the accident is not yet known, the helicopter had problems immediately after the take-off, company employees said.
The injured man has been taken to hospital and has undergone an operation. His condition is stabilized, according to doctors, CTK reported.
The last helicopter accident in Slovakia occurred at the beginning of 2006 when an Air Transport Europe Poprad (ATE) emergency medical service helicopter crashed. All three member of the crew died. Source:Xinhua
