The signing of a U.S.-Czech agreement allowing a U.S. missile defense radar base in the Czech Republic complicates European and global security, the Interfax news agency said Tuesday, quoting the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The step that has been made has long been anticipated, and, in our view, it does not make the European continent safer. And besides, it complicates the resolution of security problems in a global dimension," a high-ranking Foreign Ministry official was quoted as saying.
The U.S. deal with the Czech Republic "in effect cancelled out" an agreement between Moscow and Washington to consult on the system, the report said.
