Germany was concerned with Iran's missile tests and urged Tehran to halt "all form of saber rattling", a government spokesman said on Wednesday.
"The German government calls on Iran to halt all form of saber rattling," German government spokesman Thomas Steg told a regular press conference.
The spokesman said the German government noted the tests "with concern", adding that Berlin was particularly worried by the fact that the missiles Iran tested could carry nuclear warheads.
Steg noted that European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana had visited Tehran in mid June with a renewed offer from the international community intended as demonstrating good will and aimed at bridge-building.
But Tehran had now responded with "a gesture of ill will," Steg said.
The German government, which has been closely involved in the negotiations with Tehran aimed at halting Iran's uranium enrichment program, was still aiming at a negotiated solution to the crisis, Steg added.
The spokesman called on Tehran to do something actively to enhance confidence and to avoid all escalation.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iran state news agency reported the tests of the Shahab-3, which reportedly has a range of up to 2,000 kilometers and is capable of hitting targets in Israel.
