A German court Tuesday convicted three Iraqis of plotting to kill former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi in Germany.

The three Iraqi men, arrested in 2004, were convicted of attempting to participate in murder of Allawi when he visited Germany in 2004 and of joining in a terrorist organization linked to al-Qaida.

The Stuttgart state court gave the three men prison sentences from 7 1/2 years to 10 years.
