The Swedish SOS Alarm said Tuesday evening a theme-park ride has collapsed in western Sweden, injuring dozens of people.
"There were 36 people sitting on the Rainbow ride when the accident occurred at the Liseberg theme park in Goteborg, the second biggest city in Sweden," SOS Alarm spokeswoman Monica Grandin said, adding that 20 people were seriously hurt.
The Rainbow is composed of a spinning arm with a compartment atone end which carries passengers. "Anyone who is higher than 130 centimeters can sit on the Rainbow. The ride was full when the accident occurred," said Peter Andersson, manager of the theme-park.
The Swedish Daily DN quoted Andersson as reporting that officials didn't find out the reason for collapse until now. Later tonight, experts and officials will take an urgent meeting to discuss the accident.
Liseberg is the greatest amusement park in Scandinavia. It attracts lots of tourists all over the world.
