Ukraine will send a 440-member delegation to the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games in August, including 254 athletes, Ukrainian Minister of Family, Youth and Sports Yuriy Pavlenko said on Wednesday.

"So far, 254 Ukrainian athletes have been qualified for the sports events in the Chinese capital," Pavlenko told a news conference, adding that it is the country's largest-ever delegation for the Olympics.

He also said that Ukrainian delegation for the Paralympics will total 220 representatives.

Ukraine sent a 414-member delegation to the last Olympics in Athens, including 243 athletes. Ukraine won nine gold, five silver and nine bronze medals, ranking 12th among the 202 participants in Athens.
