The informal meeting of European Union ministers, who are responsible for culture and audiovisual matters, is scheduled to take place on July 21 and 22 at Versailles, on the outskirts of Paris, according to official sources.
This information was announced Monday in a statement published on the website of the French presidency of the European Union (EU).
According to the statement, the informal meeting, which is set to officially open on July 21, will dedicate its first session to the enhancement of the European cultural heritage.
The meeting, on this first day, will particularly deliberate on the exchange of views on the proposed "European Heritage Label" and the conditions for the adoption of the initiative on a community scale, according to its organizers.
The meeting, which is to be attended by cultural ministers from the 27 European Union member states, is also set to launch a continent-wide reflection on the prevention of theft and the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural materials.
Further, the statement indicated that the meeting is intended to enhance awareness on a common European history, through the enhancement of the European dimension of cultural property, monuments, natural sites and urban areas.
The meeting, said the statement, is also designed to enhance the awareness through the promotion of places of memory, where one could witness the history and inheritance of Europe.
The ministers attending the session will also be encouraged to organize their networking around common and similar objectives, according to the statement.
In addition, the meeting will on July 22 hold its audiovisual format with the participating ministers expected to exchange views on matters relating to broadcasting in connection with the revision of the EU regulatory framework for electronic communications, according to the same source.
