A pileup that occurred on one of Czech's artery highway late Tuesday killed two people and injured many, police said.

The accident happened 77 km from Prague on the highway linking the capital and the country's second largest city Brno, the Czech news agency CTK reported.

Traffic to Prague was blocked after the crash which involved three container trucks and five cars.

A spokesman of the Czech police said two of the truck drivers were killed and the number of deaths may rise as one of the injured was severely hurt in the head and lungs.

Traffic on the highway will resume early Wednesday, the spokesman added.
