Spain's Civil Guard on Thursday seized a cache of over 100 kg of explosives belonging to the separatist group "Basque Homeland and Freedom" (ETA), in a raid in the town of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, 220 km north of the capital Madrid.
Another ETA cache of munitions including a rifle, tools for stealing cars and tranquilizers had been recovered earlier, police said.
The two raids followed an operation on Tuesday in which the police dismantled the "Vizcaya Command", the most active ETA cell since it broke its ceasefire deal with the government in June 2007.
Police detained nine suspected ETA members during the operation, including Arkaitz Goikoetxea, the alleged cell leader in the Basque region in northern Spain.
ETA, established in 1959, has carried out a series of assassinations, kidnappings and bombings since 1968, killing hundreds of civilians and injuring thousands.
On March 22, 2006, after nearly four decades of conflict, ETA announced a permanent ceasefire, which was broken 14 months later.
