One soldier of the Turkish security forces was killed and another one injured in a clash with the militants of outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in northeastern Turkey early Saturday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
Corporal Onur Ilhan died in Kagizman town of Kars province while he was being taken to a hospital in a helicopter, said the report, adding that the injured soldier Osman Candan is under medical treatment.
The PKK, listed by the United States and Turkey as a terrorist group, took up arms in 1984 with the aim of creating an ethnic homeland in the southeast Turkey. About 40,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade conflict.
