An Austrian man, who was suspected of having shot his four relatives to death, has been imposed pre-trial detention at the Regional Court Korneuburg, according to the Austrian News Agency (APA) on Saturday.
The suspected killer Josef Branis, 66, shot his sister, his brother and their spouses in the small town Strasshof, which locates about 30 km northeast of the center of capital Vienna on July 1. He has been at large since then and was wanted by the police.
After about 6 weeks escape, Branis was finally arrested on Aug.14 in a campsite by Lake Stausee Ottenstein at Waldviertel, some 100 km northwest of Vienna.
Branis has pleaded guilty, saying he had planned for the crime for a year. His motives resulted from his years-long resentment and disputes against his family members.
Branis lived originally in his sister's apartment and had a long fight with his sister over the rising rent. After he committed crimes and ran away, the police found a letter written by him, expressing his hatred against his four relatives.
